Many of the rugs we collect on Staten Island have lived in one room for a generation. They arrive with soil deep in the foundation, pile flattened under furniture and, sometimes, moth damage in a quiet corner. A proper hand wash and careful repair usually recover far more than owners expect.

Every piece is photographed and described in a written condition report before we start, and every color is tested before the rug is wet. Where the years have worn through, we reweave in matched wool and rebuild edges and ends so the rug can carry on in daily use.

Houses near the shore also deal with damp and, after storms, with water. If a rug has been wet, call us promptly; the sooner it is dried and treated correctly, the better it recovers.

Where the work is done depends on the piece and what it needs. Cleaning, repair and restoration are carried out at our Williston Park workshop or in your home, and our Greenpoint studio in Brooklyn is there for city clients to bring a piece in and meet us.

Workshop rug cleaning takes about two weeks on average; every rug is different, and any repairs needed will extend that time.
