Rug conservators for Westchester houses.

Westchester homes often hold rugs bought when the house was built and never moved since: large Persian and Indian carpets in living rooms, runners on long staircases, and smaller pieces in bedrooms and halls. Decades in one place leave predictable marks, fading where the afternoon sun falls, flattened pile under furniture, soil packed deep into the foundation.

Full-immersion washing by hand lifts that embedded soil in a way surface cleaning cannot, and often brings back color the owners had forgotten was there. Where the years have worn through, we reweave in matched wool and rebuild edges and ends so the rug can carry on in daily use.

Every piece receives photographs and a written condition report before work begins, and a record of the treatment afterwards, which is useful for insurance and for the family who will inherit it.

Where the work is done depends on the piece and what it needs. Cleaning, repair and restoration are carried out at our Williston Park workshop or in your home, and our Greenpoint studio in Brooklyn is there for city clients to bring a piece in and meet us.

Workshop rug cleaning takes about two weeks on average; every rug is different, and any repairs needed will extend that time.
